- Have you ever been outside of the united states? If you had, you'd know that the worlds view of the USA immeasurably improved the moment Obama was elected and Bush put out to pasture. This view hasnt changed since his election and in fact, may be even more favorable.

- Janet Napolitano is an amazing woman and a great choice. And Barack Obama just did the nicest thing he ever could for Jon McCain. Which in my opinion, even as a rabid dem and obama supporter, is probably a good thing. I predict mccain will be useful to obama in the senate.

I am a seattle based venture capitalist and entreprenuer. My partners and I run Second Avenue Patners, a firm that specializes in strategy, management and capital for early stage companies. We rarely invest outside of the Seattle area because we are committed to being deeply involved in the companies we invest in.

I grew up in a family business, a home textiles firm called Pacific Coast Feather Company which today employs about 2000 people and makes alot of pillows. I remain invovled as co-chairman of the board. In addition, I co-founded the digital media company Aquantive and am its Chaiman of the Board, founded the online retailer gear.com, was the first non-family investor in amazon.com, was a founding investor in House Values, and many other companies.

But my absolute favorite investment in the whole wide world is Newsvine which Second Avenue Partners is funding.

I am also deeply invovled in progressive politics with a focus around public education policy, and am a science freak and avid amatuer astronomer. I am married to a really hot chick and have 2 most excellent kids.
